Applications Now Being Accepted for SER Student Ambassadors

The School of Energy Resources (SER) is now accepting applications for student ambassadors for the 2012-2013 academic year.  Student ambassadors assist with recruitment and retention activities and share their experiences with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prospective student recruitment during Campus Pass, Discovery Day and other on-campus recruiting activities
  • Meet with high school student groups visiting UW
  • Prepare and maintain recruiting materials
  • Mail recruiting materials to prospective students
  • Ambassadors will work 1 to 6 hours per week
  • Pay is $10.00 per hour

Requirements

  • Applicants must be full-time students in the School of Energy Resources and have attended UW within the SER program for at least one full semester
  • Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to furthering their knowledge of the School of Energy Resources and commit to participating in Campus Pass and Discovery Day held on Saturdays.
  • Campus Pass and Discovery Day dates for the 2012-2013 academic year are September 15, 2012, November 17, 2012, February 16, 2013 and April 6, 2013.

Application Requirements

  • Complete the online application at https://survey.uwyo.edu/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=n2KM5o96H. Be prepared to explain why you want to be an SER Student Ambassador and what you feel you can contribute to recruiting students.
  • Upload a copy of your current resume showing academic achievements, community service, campus activities, internships, work experience, etc.  The file must be in pdf format.
  • Applications are due Thursday, September 6, 2012 by 11:59 pm.

Labor Day – Classes are excused and university offices are closed

September 6, 2012

This is the last day you can drop a section or change a section without it showing on your transcript.

September 10, 2012

This is the last day to add a class, late register or change a grading option.  This is also the last day you can make changes to your health insurance selection.

Energy Resources Club Study Group

Does microeconomics confuse you?  Need some additional help with your chemistry or geology class? Think a group study session is for you?  The Energy Resources Club is here to help!

The Energy Resources Club is sponsoring a weekly study group session open to all Energy Resource Management and Development (formerly Energy Resource Science) students.  The sessions are held each Wednesday starting on September 5 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm in the College of Agriculture Room 41.

Scholarship for Students Using GIS in Their Studies

The Rocky Mountain chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (RM-URISA) is sponsoring a financial award for students using GIS in their studies.  Any undergraduate or graduate student attending school in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah or Wyoming is eligible to apply.

Clean Technology Could Give Wyoming Coal a Bright Future

Wyoming Public Media broadcast a piece on Wyoming coal last week.  It discuss a research project conducted by Dr. KJ Reddy at the Jim Bridger power plant in Rock Springs and the clean coal technology research program administered by the School of Energy Resources.

Outdoor Program

The Outdoor Program provides a wide range of outdoor activities and programs for a variety of skill levels. You have the opportunity to develop lifetime recreational skills, meet new people, and have a great time!

Intramural Sports

The Intramural Sports Program offers University of Wyoming students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of individual, dual, and team sports at various levels of competition. Intramural Sports strives to provide structured and organized programs that promote teamwork and mutual respect, while assisting in the fulfillment of such basic needs as relaxation, socialization, achievement, and physical wellness. It is the goal of the Intramural Sports Program to provide the University of Wyoming community members the opportunity to participate in a sport of their choice in a fun, friendly, and safe environment.

Club Sports

Club Sports provides competitive sport opportunities to University of Wyoming students. The level of competition is above that of intramurals yet below that of intercollegiate athletics. Club teams compete against schools from the Rocky Mountain region along with universities across the country.

Music Ensembles

The Department of Music sponsors several music ensembles open to all University of Wyoming students.

Vocal Arts

The Laramie/UW Civic Chorus is open to all UW faculty, staff, students and members of the Laramie community.  This is a non-auditioned ensemble.

The Vocal Jazz Ensemble consists of 12-16 singers and is open to all university students by audition.

University of Wyoming Bands

The Western Thunder Marching Band features musicians from nearly every major on campus who perform for thousands of football fans each year at home and road Cowboy football games.

The Symphonic Band is open to all students, performing the finest in symphonic band repertory.

The Community Concert Band is open to all area residents, including students, for musical enjoyment.
